Auto & Equipment Yards
Security For Car Lots And Equipment Yards.
Where the inventory sits outside, unattended, overnight. Perimeter, gate and plate capture, with deterrence that acts during the event rather than after it.
The Problem
On A Car Lot The Stock Is Outdoors And Nobody Is Watching It.
Almost every other commercial property puts its valuables inside a locked building. A lot does the opposite, and the design has to start from that.
Perimeter And Fence Line
Detection along the boundary, with identification concentrated where people actually cross rather than spread evenly.
Plate Capture At The Gate
A dedicated position specified for angle, speed and light, kept separate from the overview camera.
Catalytic And Component Theft
Coverage low and close on the rows where vehicles are parked, because the incident happens under a car rather than beside it.
Equipment And Attachments
The smaller, high-value items that leave in a pickup bed rather than under their own power.
After-Hours Deterrence
Strobe and voice-down at the moment of detection, which interrupts opportunistic activity rather than documenting it.
Customer-Facing Areas
Front lot, showroom entry and the office, where the requirement is ordinary commercial coverage.
Lighting And Distance
Lots Fail At Night, Predictably.
Two variables decide whether a yard system produces evidence or a gray rectangle.
Distance. A camera specified for a doorway resolves nothing at the far end of a lot. Positions get specified for range, which usually means fewer cameras with longer lenses concentrated where people and vehicles must pass, rather than a ring of wide cameras around the boundary.
Light. Lot lighting is designed so people can walk safely, not so a sensor can resolve a face at a hundred feet. Where it is uneven, cameras placed without accounting for it produce silhouettes against the lit areas and nothing at all in the gaps. That is assessed on site after dark, because it cannot be assessed any other way.
The honest version of a yard design covers gates and approaches to identification standard and the fence line to detection standard. Identification along an entire perimeter is possible and rarely worth what it costs, and we will say so before you buy it.
What Helps
Beyond Cameras On A Yard.
On lots, the cameras are frequently not the whole answer, and we will say when they are not.
Analytics That Filter
Object classification separates a person crossing the fence from headlights and weather, which is what makes alerts worth leaving on.
Access Control At The Gate
A credential log alongside the plate log, so vehicle movement and authorization can be checked against each other.
Honest Limits
Where the real answer is a fence, a barrier or lighting rather than another camera, that is what we will tell you.
